LO: to analyse a media text using Media Language
In the Tenet trailer, mise-en-scene is used effectively to make the scenes more intense. For example guns and people fighting make it more intense, more interesting and it implies that the film is an action film. This would persuade people who like action films to watch the film.
Editing is also used in the Tenet trailer. For example some of the trailer is edited to be in reverse. This suggests that parts of the film are in reverse or happen in reverse. This makes the film seem more interesting and intriguing, therefore more people will be likely to watch it.
It trailer
Camerawork
In the trailer for the film It, camerawork is used effectively to make the scenes more scary which makes the audience feel scared so people who like horror movies are more likely to watch the film. The camerawork makes it more scary because of the close ups of Pennywise (the clown). The camera also slowly zooms in to the characters or the scene which makes it intense and it could make the audience think something disturbing or scary is about to happen.Mise-en-scene
In the trailer for the film It, mise-en-scene is used effectively to make it scary. For example in a few scenes they are in a dark sewer with blood everywhere which suggests that people have died in there which makes it creepy and suggests that the characters are in danger and the murderer could be near them. They also used creepy clown make up to make the scenes scarier, the light in some of the scenes are made darker and grey which create a creepy and sad mood. A lot of fake blood is also used.
Editing
In the trailer for the film It, they use editing to make the scenes more interesting and do things that would be difficult to do in person/without editing. For example they use editing to make someone float in the air which makes it scarier because a popular line from the film that is mentioned many times in the trailer is "You'll float too." So by making someone float they are using that line discreetly and gives the audience things to guess and figure out. At one point in the trailer it quickly gives a slight preview of some of the scary scenes and then quickly moves onto another scene with thudding that sounds a bit like a heart racing in the background. This makes the scenes more intense and the audience could become more intrigued.
Soundtrack
In the trailer for It, soundtrack is used to make the scenes even more scary and add to the suspense. It can also help with jump scares because when people hear the creepy music they think something is about to happen so when it stops and then something scary happens when people were least expecting it, so it is a lot more scary. Sound effects are also used to make the film scary and creepy. For example the sound of thunder when there isn't actually thunder, some of the sounds in the scenes are made louder and over exaggerated and sounds from the scarier scenes are used over the non scary scenes to turn them into a more intense scene.
