LO: To effectively develop an idea for a disaster movie.

Genre Conventions

The characters 2012, World War Z and The day after tomorrow were trying to escape and both of them were not natural disasters.

The disaster in The impossible and Contagion was a natural disaster.

Most of them are set in the city and are trying to save their family.

The characters are usually panicking and there is a lot of destruction.

My disaster film

It is about humans invading aliens and destroying their planet and the aliens have to leave their planet to escape from the humans as they could be killed by the humans.  It is set on a planet that is not earth. It is set in the future. The humans would fly to the planet in a rocket to see if there are aliens there and when they find the aliens they try to kill them so the aliens try to escape from the humans.  The message behind my film is that things aren't always as they seem.

Equilibrium: The aliens are living on their planet in peace and had never encountered a human before.

Disruption: Humans fly to the aliens' planet to try and find and kill the aliens as they think that they are dangerous and evil so the humans all try to kill the aliens and destroy their planet so that they can take over the planet and get rid of the aliens.

Recognition of disruption: The aliens realise that the humans have arrived on the planet and are trying to kill the aliens and destroy the planet. The humans try to destroy the aliens' planet by bombing where the aliens' live, shooting and trying to hurt the aliens and completely destroy everything on the planet.

Attempt to solve disruption: The aliens try to fight back and then they try to flee to another planet before the humans kill all of the aliens. The humans then try to follow the aliens to the other planet however the aliens manage to escape to a planet that humans would not survive on.

New equilibrium: The aliens have escaped the humans and have built homes and are now living on their new planet away from the humans and are no longer in danger.

The hero: The alien who discovers the other planet.

The villain: The humans 

The donor: An alien on the other planet who lets the aliens live on his planet.

The helper:  The other aliens who help the hero to come up with a plan to escape the humans.

The princess: The planet

The dispatcher: The alien who lets the other aliens live on his planet.

The princess' father: 

The false hero: A person that tries to trick the aliens into thinking that he is trying to help them escape when he actually is just trying to kidnap them and then kill them.

Disaster strikes when worlds collide and astronauts travel to a newly discovered planet to get rid of any life on the planet. They find hundreds of aliens and start to try and destroy their planet. A variety of explosions, deaths and disastrous events take place as the humans start a war with extraterrestrial life. Who will escape and who will surrender?

1) I'm hungry
By getting a lot of food or trying to find food.

2) I've lost the cat
A shot of the character trying to find the cat and possibly panicking because they can't find the cat. Or the cat running away from them.

3) I'm so tired
The character yawning or looking tired.

4) I'm late for school
The character rushing or running to school.

5) I'm annoyed with her
Angry facial expressions and acting in an angry way towards or glaring at the other character.

For example guns and people fighting make it more intense , more interesting  and it implies that the film is an action film.  This would persuade  people who like action films t o watch the film.   Editing is also used in the Tenet trailer.   Tuesday 2nd February 2021                                   Setting Why might a director choose the following settings? 1. An isolated house in a rural setting for a horror film. A director might choose this setting for a horror film because it makes it creepier if the house is in the middle of no where as the characters cannot escape easily and get help if they are in danger so it is more likely that whatever is after the characters will be able to get to the characters. 2. A big city for an action film A director might choose this setting for an action film because usually cities are very busy and usually a lot happens in an action film so it would make sense for the film to be set in a busy place 3.
