Disaster Film Posters
Most of them use bold fonts in all capital letters.
Most of them include a picture of the disaster or of explosions.
The brightest colour is usually blue or orange and them most of the other colours are quite dull to draw the attention to the disaster.
A lot of them have an image of just the main characters and the disasters.
A lot of them have silver or white text.
There are large waves which suggest that there is possibly a tsunami or a flood. There is lightning which links to danger and possibly death and evil. The only colours used are black, blue and white which makes the lightning and Godzilla stand out. There are buildings in the background which shows that Godzilla is near land and not in the middle of the ocean which links to there being a flood or Tsunami. Godzilla takes up a lot of the poster and looks extremely big compared to the buildings which makes him look strong and dangerous. The white is mainly around Godzilla and the lightning is pointing towards him which makes him stand out even more and makes him look evil and dangerous. The background is black which makes the lightning stand out and makes it seem even more dangerous as it is happening at night in the dark. The writing is in block capitals and is a slightly different blue to the background which makes the writing stand out.
My movie poster
I used orange and blue which are used in disaster movie posters, I made the title block capitals and grey. I also made the main image the disaster,
How well did you use poster layout conventions?
I put the title, credit block and date near the bottom.
What are you pleased with and why?
I am pleased with the overall look of the poster as it is quite simple and not crowded with a lot of writing and it looks like a disaster movie poster.
What would you improve and why?
I would improve the image by making it look more realistic.
What would you like to learn how do to in photoshop?
I would like to learn how to making things look more realistic.
A great poster.
ReplyDeleteWWW - you've incorporated lots of the disaster conventions
EBI - I think a tag line is needed to help give more clues about the narrative
